Models of Forest Dynamics and Uncertainty

Models and uncertainty

A central focus of my research is understanding how model assumptions influence conclusions. I have shown that key processes such as regeneration and soil organic matter are not minor technical details, but major sources of uncertainty in projected forest trajectories. This matters because management and policy decisions are often based on model output. My work pushes forest modelling toward more transparent, process-aware, and decision-relevant use under uncertainty.
